I went a little over a minute but thankfully that was all Strawberry asked for. Capturing live game-play on Second Life this time around wasn’t as difficult as the last time I tried to.
Though this time around I am lucky enough to be working on a decent machine with a decent internet connection. I went ahead and used the free version of FRAPS again, and will most likely purchase it outright since I’m already comfortable working with it. I apologize for the choppy mouse uh, quality as I have not yet convinced my teenaged son to lend me his game controller.
1. What is your perception of Second Life?
It is a unique platform unlike what we would call an MMORPG or static virtual chatrooms within chatrooms. I perceive Second Life to be a platform where the user is the creator of all he or she has ever wanted and dreamed of creating. Would you like to build a town today? Would you like to create your own flying machine? How about creating something that could help you in your first life? I have always perceived Second Life to be a tool for like minded individuals to come together as a community, each person bringing his or her own creative spirit, together building worlds within worlds.
2. Do you feel the portrayal or reputation Second Life seems to have in the mainstream media is justified?
To an extent, and I say that with a grain of salt. They say it takes a few bad apples to spoil the bunch, but I disagree. The mainstream media’s most basic agenda, I feel, is most often times aimed at bringing out the worst, be it through news, reviews, photos, events, this is a given for sure. But the tide is turning, and in spite of just a few bad apples…in spite of a big scary media, the residents of Second Life continue to dwell, to live, to create and to make connections that count. I personally have been touched by the relationships I make here, and have even rekindled that creative spirit through this platform. Yeah totally!
3. Do you talk about your Second Life with your real life friends and family?
A handful of my real life friends and family know that Wendz Tempest even exists. (The ones that do, I’ve shot and buried already.. jk) From time to time, I consult with my own teens about things like editing pictures, styling a look, or even touring a region that might interest them, visually at least. They are gamers for life, and it can sometimes be a battle convincing them that SL is not a game per se. The friendships I have made over SL most always bleed into my first life and I am totally okay with that.
4. What is your most favorite thing to do in Second Life?
Type 500+ words on a non Second Life application apparently 😛
My most favorite thing to do in Second Life, this week, are exploring and, shopping. I may have a problem with that last one.
Do be sure to peruse through Strawberry Singh’s Blog and Meme Challenges category for previous challenges. They are a great source to getting some good quality content in your blog imo.
