L2S #30 The Trials of Evening Wear

ermegerdd, dun lost n eyelash thar -.-

After much deliberation with the other half of my idle brain, I chose to include the good, the bad and the ugly side of this learning to style bidness, that’s pretty much been an organic process since the beginning. It has definitely opened my eyes and taught me to be more observant about the content that I purchase in world and how to present it.

Take for example, evening wear. This is a look that I have struggled with since the day I bought my first gown from Swaffette Firefly of SD Designs. I have always been a fan of comfort and simplicity. Sticking to looks that are considered ‘safe’, classics, I think thats the term right sis 😛

So that’s where I am at the moment. Its not where I want to stay however, and spending time reading and scouring over hundreds of SL fashion blogs helps me to become familiar with more designers and their style, their imagination. That really is the great thing about our community, the folks behind the creativity are folks just like us, with more gumption to step out of ye olde comfort zone to make their mark.

Anyway, enough of that emo mumbo jumbo! I wanted to share some of the stuff (again) that I do during processing. Many of the techniques I’ve learned from fellow bloggers and if you click on the picture, it will take you to the site where I learned that particular technique from. Hope it all makes sense in the end.. do be sure to check out the credits for more info..

So for adding highlights I use a combination of Strawberry Singh’s technique as well as a RL tutorial that I found on youtube, which is geared more for folks on Photoshop Elements. The technique is the same, and even doable on Gimp or any other photo editing program, even PicMonkey 🙂

PicMonkey Effects and Themes

One of the final things I really like doing is playing around with effects and PicMonkey has some really neat ones that I use 90% of the time. PeepSideshow over at Picsbypeep has an amazing tutorial for this editing program and it is so worth checking out.

The learning curve is steep, I always say, and man does it ever give you a work out climbing it! Think of me, when you’re at the mountain top of ye ole graphics peak and say a prayer for this lowly scribe k? ok.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Aloha till next time 🙂
